The Oasis Bar & Grill
Located in the courtyard of Marina Sol, the Oasis Bar and Grill is nestled alongside a beautiful pool surrounded by a true oasis atmosphere. Numerous palm trees not only shade the picturesque, park-like setting but also add to the ambiance of the courtyard and open-air restaurant. The Oasis has traditional Mexican dishes and a wide selection of American favorites—a fine place to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The breakfast menu includes egg dishes, fresh fruits and delicious Chilaquiles with chicken. Try a terrific Hamburger or tasty Fish and Chips for lunch. For dinner, the menu is extensive. Food is expertly prepared on a mesquite grill and the Steak and Lobster Combo is one of the most requested entrées, as is the fantastic Prime Rib. Prices are reasonable and service is prompt and courteous. The Oasis has a poolside palapa bar with terrific drinks. On Paseo del Pescador, in the Marina Sol Resort. Open from 9:00 am to 10:30 pm; closed Wed-nesday. Telephone: 143-6285.

The Office on the Beach
Like no office you ever worked at before, this fun-filled restaurant and bar has been around Cabo San Lucas since 1987, and it sits at center stage among all Playa El Médano venues. This location is perfect for a morning beach walk followed by a tasty Mexican breakfast of Huevos Rancheros. The orange juice is fresh and the coffee is a rich, special house blend. When lunchtime rolls around, have one of The Office assistants bring you an Acapulco-style Ceviche cocktail or a hamburger special. Fresh fish and an array of Mexican dishes are also available. At sunset, this restaurant takes on a club-like atmosphere providing diners with a Mexican fiesta of folkloric dances and party favors. Enjoy the show with a Steamed Lobster Tail or Baja Style Camaron Gigante (Jumbo Shrimp). Mexican dishes are also a house specialty. Try the Enchiladas de Pollo or the Tampiqueña, a top sirloin steak. The staff at The Office prides themselves on making their customers happy at all times. Very popular with large groups; dinner reservations are often necessary. Happy hour daily from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Call for Mexican fiesta night information. Open daily 7:00 am to 10:00 pm. Telephone: 143-3464 or 143-4919.

100% Natural
Aptly named, 100% Natural, located in the Puerto Paraiso Mall near the Harbor, is where you can "eat natural, live natural, and be natural". This Mexican restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner while focusing on using fresh ingredients to create a re-freshing and healthful dining experience. 100% Natural is the place to start your morning off right, treat yourself to an afternoon pick-me-up, or top off your day in the sun with a meal sure to leave you feeling good. 100% Natural offers two dining venues—umbrella covered tables on the patio or an air-conditioned dining room. One of their specialty Tropical Juices or Tropical Fruit Milk Shakes is bound to cleanse your body and boost your energy level. The array of menu options ranges from fruit salads and omelettes to sandwiches, salads, and soy burgers. For larger dishes, and more of a dinner menu, the restaurant offers pastas, several Mexican dishes, and many selections of chicken and fish. Some excellent entrées might include the Enchiladas or the Fresh Fish Fillet in a wine sauce with spinach, accompanied by sautéed vegetables with caraway seeds. Any choice is likely to leave you rejuvenated and feeling healthy, while still giving you that Mexican kick. Open daily from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm. Telephone: 144-3804 and 144-3805.

O Mole Mio
O Mole Mio features contemporary Mexican cuisine in an unusual two-story building with unique décor. Guadalajara artist, Ernesto Cruz, de-signed the interior, a fabulous blend of wood, glass, and metal. A comfortable setting with fully stocked bars on both levels affords quick service when ordering your favorite drink. The specialty of the house, as their name indicates, is different moles, or sauces, served over chicken. Try the Mole Poblano or Mole Verde. The Spicy Tuna, accompanied by their innovative version of tropical mango-papaya salsa is delicious. O Mole Mio prides itself on having one of the most interesting menus in Cabo. This is a great place to start your evening, and after a delicious meal, you can enjoy the delights of Cabo San Lucas after dark. Located on Marina Boulevard in Plaza del Sol, down the street from The Giggling Marlin. Open 12:00 pm to 10:30 pm. Telephone: 143-7577.

Pancho's Restaurant and Tequila Bar
Pancho's Restaurant and Tequila Bar, a culturally classic restaurant where you can enjoy traditional Mexican food in festive Mexican decor. It’s just a short walk from Plaza Las Glorias on Hidalgo in downtown Cabo San Lucas. With colorful tablecloths, authentic memorabilia, characteristic Mexican murals, and a mariachi band serenading you during dinner, you will feel as though you are truly experiencing all that is Mexico. Enjoy a meal at this friendly, casual restaurant, which is most often quiet and leisurely during breakfast and lunch, yet spirited during dinner. The menu is substantial and the emphasis is on value, offering everything from Huevos a la Mexicana con Frijoles (Mexican Eggs with Green Chilies) to Pescado en Salsa de Mango (Mesquite Grilled Fish with Mango Salsa). Some other popular favorites are the authentic tortilla soup or the Mexican Platter, which comes with copious portions of Chile Relleno, Chicken Enchilada, Carne Asada, and Quesadilla. While you are inspired by the authentic ambiance, try a margarita made with one of the 236 types of tequila they have for sale. With a total over 450 different types of tequila, Pancho's houses the largest tequila collection in the world for a restaruant. If you enjoy tequila, you can experience the varied tastes by participating in their nightly tequila tastings and when you discover a favorite, you can purchase the brand at the gift shop next door, along with other Pancho's memorabilia. Reservations are suggested for dinner. Open daily 7:00 am to 11:00 pm. Telephone: 143-0973.

Peacocks Bar and Restaurant
Peacocks, the European touch to dining in Cabo San Lucas, invites you to relax and enjoy an evening of comfort, fine food, and an air of romance. Each table has it’s own personality and style. Some are hidden away in the beautiful courtyard, others are in the main dining room under soft lighting. Dinner at this gourmet restaurant is a flavorful event. Try the Baked Brie in Pecan Crust or the Basil and Cheese Ravioli from their list of fine appetizers. Dinner entrées include seafood, pasta, meat and poultry dishes, all prepared from exquisite recipes by Chef Omar Covarrubias. The house specialties include Lobster Combos, accompanied by a variety of exotic sauces. The Seafood Linguine is excellent as is the New Zealand Lamb Au Provence, roasted with mustard, garlic, and herbs. Add an extensive international wine list and refined desserts with fine service, and you will understand why this eatery has been known as one of the areas finest for over a decade. On Paseo Pescador, at the entrance to the Hotel Meliá San Lucas in Cabo San Lucas. Open daily 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm. Telephone: 143-1858.

Pitahayas Restaurant
Oceanfront at the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar, and spectacular in every sense, Pitahayas deserves and has received international recognition—the Five Star Diamond Award to Chef Volker Romeicke and staff for excellence in their field of cuisine. An impressive, large palapa creates the setting for an open aired, sophisticated evening of dining pleasure. The menu offers an exotic blend of flavors influenced by different Pacific Rim countries with a twist, like Kahlua Potstickers filled with smoked pork with shredded cabbage and black bean garlic sauce. The Spicy Octopus Salad with vegetable curls, sprouts, and black sesame seeds is wonderfully soft and expertly seasoned. Wok favorites include the delicious Crab Crusted Seabass with red curry coconut sauce, and Szechwan Pepper Duckling with preserved lemon risotto. From the grill, the Trilogy of Fresh Local Seafood—a half lobster tail with vanilla bean sauce, blackened fish with mango relish and sautéed shrimp in wasabi butter is exquisitely prepared and presented. Take a moment to explore Los Cabos’ only underground wine cellar and choose from an extensive list of wines and champagnes. Desserts are as delicious as they look. Reservations are recommended and resort attire is requested. Pitahayas is located at the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Resort and Spa at Km. 10 off Highway 1. Telephone: 145-8000 and 145-8010.

Romeo y Julieta Ristorante Italiano
The Spanish Mediterranean environment and great Italian food make Romeo y Julieta a must. Two spacious dining areas, one with a view of the stars and the other enjoying the comfort of air-conditioning ensure that your night will be comfortable and fun. The décor is Old World, with the feel and aroma of an Italian eatery. The menu offers a variety of dishes at reasonable prices. The Daily Special is one of their most popular requests. It serves two persons and comes with Caesar Salad, three different kinds of pasta, a main course, and a delicious dessert and coffee. Another favorite and often-requested dish is the Medagliones Funghi (veal medallions) served in a delicious mushroom and red wine sauce. It is one of the house’s special recipes. One must not forget the many great pizzas on the menu; once you try one, you’ll be hooked. The Four Seasons Pizza is very tasty with ham, asparagus, artichoke hearts and black olives. The desserts are delightful and sweet. They have a fine selection of domestic and imported wines and liquors to choose from, and the Mexican coffee is a flaming treat. Romeo y Julieta is located just off Marina Boulevard on Camino del Cerro and is open from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Reservations are recommended. Telephone: 143-0225

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse
You will come away suitably im-pressed, both with the tight teamwork and the delicious food at Ruth’s Chris. The location and decor, especially the marina-side terrace seating, is first class and the service is impeccable. The staff, under the direction of Chef Gustavo Rodriguez, is professional, and their training and teamwork really show. The food is without a doubt some of the best in Los Cabos. Why is the food and service so impressive? Quality control, discipline, high-quality imported ingredients, and then more quality control. The grain-fed beef is imported from Chicago, then cooked at 1600 degrees fahrenheit, and served to you on a plate so sizzlin’ you could still fry an egg at your table. The appetizers and salads are all Ruth’s Chris fare, so anyone familiar with the high-end chain will know exactly what they are getting. The Ahi Tuna appetizer is done exactly as it should be. The beef is incredible, and no matter what you order, you will not be disappointed. Wonderfully rich and satisfying, the desserts are fabulous and the portions are huge. With wonderful service, delicious food, ample servings, and an upscale ambience, Ruth’s Chris should be on everyone’s list for a first-class dining experience. Located on the marina level of the Puerto Paraiso Mall. Open daily from 1:00 pm to 11:30 pm; Telephone: 144-3232 or 143-3233.

Sancho Panza
Definitely Mediterranean with a Latino flare, this intimate, eclectic bistro strives to impress even the most sophisticated patron with style, quality, nightly jazz, and fine cuisine. It combines artistic ambiance, over 1,000 bottles of fine wine, and a relaxed atmosphere, making Sancho Panza one of the most talked about spots in Cabo San Lucas. Taking its name from Spanish literature (Sancho Panza was Don Quixote’s loyal servant in the classic novel written by Miguel de Cervantes in 1604), the interiors are decorated with Picasso, Dali, and Miro motifs, with Cuban art hanging on the walls. “Creative Mediterranean cuisine with a Latin twist” implies combining the best of the old and new world. The menu is an eclectic blend of everything from fresh Mussels and Oysters flown in from northern Baja, to fresh Port and Liver Mousse, Osso Bucco, Ribeye Florentine, organic greens, and homemade desserts. You will find this soulful venue just behind Plaza Las Glorias off the marina access in Cabo San Lucas. Open daily from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Telephone: 143-3212

Sea Queen Restaurant
Currently under construction and sche-duled to open during the winter of 2002/2003, the Sea Queen Restaurant will offer fresh seafood, a sushi bar, a gourmet coffee shop and a bakery with tempting desserts. Dine casually under the shaded patio or relax in air-conditioned comfort inside the well-appointed dining room. With seating capacity for 150 people, the restaurant will be able to accommodate groups, parties and special events. The Sea Queen will specialize in fresh lobster, shrimp, fish and other seafood delicacies. Two interesting looking menu items are the “catch of the day” with red mole sauce served with fresh vegetables and the “coconut shrimp crown” with tamarindo sauce. Sea Queen Restaurant is located at the corner of Marina Boulevard and Avenida Cabo San Lucas. Open daily from 12:00 noon to 11:00 pm. Tele-phone 143-3535.

Terranova Restaurant
The unassuming Terranova Restaurant at the Hotel Posada Terranova serves Mexican favorites at reasonable prices. When your experience here has ended, you will feel that you know a few more things about life in a small, friendly Mexican town. The Tolentino family has had the Posada for what seems like forever, and the good homestyle food at the restaurant has always been the draw. Breakfast includes traditional favorites like Machaca con Huevos and Chilaquiles. Lunch is a pleasant com-bination of salads and Mexican standards such as Quesadillas, Enchiladas, Filete de Pescado, and Carne Asada Tacos. For dinner, the menu becomes more sophisticated and the pleasant, intimate terrace is transformed with the addition of soft lighting and the occasional wandering minstrel. Try the affordable Seafood Soup for starters or the Caesar Salad, done the old Tijuana way. For your main course, the Mexican Combination is light and flavorful and features Enchiladas with green chili sauce. The Seafood Brochette, a combination of shrimp, and other available seafood is garnished with a baked potato and vegetables. Terranova Rest-aurant also has a full bar and lovely desserts. Located on Degollado, just off Calle Zaragoza, four blocks up from Boulevard Mijares in San José del Cabo. Open daily from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm. Telephone: 142-0534.

Villa Serena Restaurant
This is a wonderful gem in the Corridor at Kilometer 7.5 that’s located adjacent to the Villa Serena Trailer Park, but don’t let that influence you. This lovely palapa restaurant with sweeping views and a pool for afternoon dips is the perfect place for those wanting an authentic Baja California experience. Paceño (La Paz native) Manuel Bobadilla has been keeping diners happy for more than ten years, and describes himself as the owner, the dishwasher, and the cleaning lady. It’s this sense of humor and attention to detail that make Villa Serena popular for consistently good food, service, and a tropical atmosphere that’s both welcoming and relaxing. In all these years, I have never had a poor meal or service. The food is Mexican without pretensions, with a great Lobster special for only $9.99. Portions are generous, the drinks are well mixed, and there’s even live music playing from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm from Wednesdays to Sundays that’s low enough to talk over, yet loud enough to enjoy. Perfect for couples and families as well as for weddings, special events and catered pool parties. Villa Serena Restaurant is upscale in ambiance with down to earth prices. Open for breakfast and lunch from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm; Call for reservations. Telephone 145-8244.
